It doesn't matter if your novel was published years ago, or whether it's due release at any moment, make the most of letting people see, hear, and smell history through your words as you paint the future of your characters. And yes, I know a lot of people screw up their noses when one mentions historical novels and the realities of the past, but not everyone lived in towns and cities where garde/gardy loo was commonly shouted from upper floors and where open drains hummed with flies... Though it is true to say pomanders had their uses...
